AL MONTOYA
Born january 25, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas. He began his career early in life selling his first painting at the age of eight. In his adult life, he has lived or traveled extensively in various parts of the United States and some European countries. His paintings have been exhibited in most major cities in Texas, then on out into California, Wisconsin and New York, as well as Spain and Romainia. His desire has often been to paint on canvas idea's and concepts which are sometimes not really understoodwhen conveyed by the spoken word. However, his Texas scenery is recognized in any part of the world.
A major high light of Al Montoya's career has been through his contact with Dr. Radu Florescu of Boston College, author of three Dracula biographies. This has led to his work being shown at the Romanian Library in New York, and also at Harvard University. This, in turn, has led to involvement in Romania where Dracula ( Prince Vlad Tepes ) is regarded in much the same way Sam Houston is in Texas. His works have also been recieved by the King of Spain, various Congressmen, mayors of several cities, Including former Mayor Jeff Freedman of Austin. Mr. Montoya's paintings can be found in some large Churches and have been seen in Jackson Square in New Orleans.
